Ive decided to message steam support about their gross overcharging for games.. the following is the mail and image i sent them..

Ok, ive just accepted it for the last couple of years but i need to know, is there any reason that you are ripping off people here in Ireland? The steam digital download should not cost considerably more that buying a disc copy game, but yet it does.. How can you justify this? Is there any reason that games on steam in other countries are actually noticeably cheaper, i can understand rounding up to the nearest .99 of a euro but we are talking about rounding up to the nearest 4.99 and in some cases 9.99..

That support guy did a great job of picking the pre-written answers that almost related to what you where asking
In some ways I feel sorry for tech support, I’ve worked as one a few times and I used to get in so much trouble for trying to fix the problem and covering unsupported products instead of reading the script. Hence why I quit, I can’t work somewhere if they’re going to be backwards and unhelpful.
This guy seems a little less like a robot, but didn’t venture far from the script to give you any proper reason at all. He probably doesn’t even have any access to the specific information you’re looking for. You could make an official complaint to Steam, but who knows if anyone reads them or takes any notice.
It is a load of crap how there is such a variety in prices around the place for games. I can’t remember what game I saw the other day in GameStop, but the original game was more expensive than the sequel which I found odd. There’s also been a few times I’ve found the exact same game on a different shelf with a different price, do they make it up as they go along?

Maybe there are toll booths on the interweb tubes linking Ireland to the rest of the world. It could explain the huge difference in price for a totally digital product
